How do files from another tool fit into a case?
Exported files become source documents that you can connect to the rest of the case. File intake stores a copy of the exported material. For structured imports or ongoing system connections, contact us with the formats and workflow you need.
Which file types support AI text analysis?
AI text analysis supports PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx and .xls), PowerPoint (.pptx), OpenDocument text (.odt), RTF, plain text, Markdown, CSV, and HTML. AI must be enabled for your account, and file readability affects the analysis available. The original file remains in the case even when it cannot be analyzed.
Do I need to connect an assistant to ask a case question?
No. Built-in case questions are available inside nQuest when AI is enabled for your account. An MCP connection is an optional way to use a compatible external assistant with the case material you have permission to read.
What can a connected assistant access?
The MCP connection provides read-only tools to search accessible cases, inspect entities and relationships, read document text and analysis, view tasks and resources, and ask a case question. It does not grant access beyond your existing nQuest permissions or allow the assistant to edit cases.
What can I take out of nQuest?
Case export provides nodes and relationships in JSON and text with available supporting files. It can include an editable Word report draft and recorded time in CSV. Folder export writes selected folder contents to your computer.
