Plans and Billing
Plan and seat changes apply to the entire account. They can change which administration tools are available, how many people can use each access type, and the account’s recurring charge.
For current pricing and the complete feature comparison, see nQuest Pricing.
How Plans Affect the Account
Section titled “How Plans Affect the Account”| Plan | Practical impact |
|---|---|
| Starter | Supports up to 2 Investigators, 10 Business Users, and 200 GB of case storage. Custom Entity Definitions, Signal Sets, and the Alerts Manager are unavailable. |
| Team | Adds collaborative team features, adjustable Investigator and Business User capacity, pooled storage, custom entity configuration, and Signal Sets. Team accounts can use Custom Groups. |
| Enterprise | Adds flexible managed billing and Enterprise-only controls such as Compartments. Contact nQuest for account-specific limits and features. |
Some existing accounts may show the legacy Solo plan. Those accounts can upgrade to Team from the Account page.
Changing the Subscription Plan
Section titled “Changing the Subscription Plan”- Open Account from the main navigation.
- In Billing Details, select Upgrade to Team or Downgrade to Starter.
- Review the current plan, new plan, any prorated amount due today, and the new monthly rate.
- Select Accept Quote to submit the change.
Requesting the quote does not change the plan. The change is submitted only after you accept it. Stripe-backed changes may take a few minutes to appear in nQuest.
Before Downgrading to Starter
Section titled “Before Downgrading to Starter”A downgrade affects everyone using the account. Check these conditions first:
- The account must use Simplified Groups. If Custom Groups have been implemented, nQuest disables self-service downgrade; contact nQuest Support.
- Usage must be no more than 2 Investigators and 10 Business Users. Reduce the account’s seat capacity and active usage before trying again.
- Starter does not provide the Entity Definitions, Signal Sets, or Alerts Manager screens. Review how your team uses those features before accepting the quote.
If the button is disabled or the quote cannot be created, review Current Usage and contact Support if the reason is unclear.
Changing Seat Capacity
Section titled “Changing Seat Capacity”Seat capacity determines how many Investigators and Business Users the account can support. It does not choose which individual users should receive those access types; manage people separately from the Users page.
- Open Account and scroll to Current Usage.
- Select Add/Remove Investigators or Add/Remove Business Users.
- Choose the new capacity and select Request Quote.
- Review the immediate prorated adjustment and new monthly rate.
- Select Accept Quote.
Seat controls are available on eligible self-service Team accounts. They are hidden on Solo, Starter, managed, and non-revenue accounts. Controls are also unavailable during a managed conversion and disabled while another billing change is pending. Extra Business User capacity cannot be added during a Team free trial before the first invoice.
Payment Details and Cancellation
Section titled “Payment Details and Cancellation”For a self-service account, select Go to Billing Portal in Billing Details to open Stripe. Use the portal to change payment information, view invoices, or cancel the subscription.
Managed accounts show contact guidance instead. If a self-service account is being converted to managed billing, wait for the conversion to finish before making another billing change.
